Do you like examining your tea traditionally? Our traditional Gong Fu Cha style cup set is for you.
In a traditional Gong Fu Cha you use two cups. One cup is for tasting, and the other is for smelling. Tea is poured into the taller flute (does it remind you of a champagne glass?). The wider glass is placed on top, and you flip the two cups over (carefully, not to spill the precious contents). The flute cup is removed so you can smell the tea. Then you inspect the colour of, and taste, your tea with the wider cup.
At Marulin, we love trying and serving tea in all traditions. If you want to a smelling and tasting cup in one, please see our Marulin teacups which are designed for this purpose.
These teacups come from Mrs. Li's small pottery factory in Yingge, Taiwan. Yingge, a small city outside of Taipei, was recognised as one of two earliest industrial areas for pottery, according to the literature from the era of the Japanese colonial period.
