This Assam black tea comes from the graft of a tea tree that was brought over from the Japanese during its colonial period with Taiwan. Folklore claims that the seed of the tea tree was hidden and brought over in a cane an old Japanese man. This Assam may have brought on the black tea revolution in Taiwan.

CULTIVATION AND PROCESSING
Assam plants were brought to Taiwan from India in the 1920s and were developed to suit the climate of Taiwan. As a result of the climate and terroir, the taste of this tea has honey and cream notes. It is reminiscent of a dark oolong and a black tea without the strong tannins found in Assams from India.
