ORIGIN
Known as Lugwei tea, this rare tea comes from Kaohsiung County and is made from the native Taiwanese wild tea tree local to the area. It is different species of wild tea that is grown in Yuchi, which some refer to as Shan Cha, which is more commonly found.
CULTIVATION AND PROCESSING
Only about 100 kg of this tea is made a year, as most of the Taiwanese wild tea trees in the area are protected in a state forest. The Agriculture Commission of Taiwan grants permission for those who want to pick and make tea from these trees.
